FAQs
Who do you work with?
I work with adults aged 18 and up living in the state of Texas. I offer both individual therapy and relationship counseling for couples. Many of my clients identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community and are seeking support through identity work or religious trauma. I specialize in working with mood disorders (such as depression and anxiety), trauma, and substance use. It’s worth mentioning that my definition of trauma is: an emotional response to a distressing or disturbing event or series of events that overwhelms an individual's ability to cope. Trauma is highly subjective, and often relational. It includes but is not limited to acute, complex, attachment, medical, sexual, identity-based, accident, abuse, and combat-related trauma.
Do you offer online or in-person sessions?
Right now I am virtual only, which allows me the flexibility to offer the maximum number of session options for clients. I do hold a limited number of evening and weekend time slots.
What types of relationship counseling do you offer?
I offer affirming relationship counseling for couples, including those in non-traditional or polyamorous relationships. My approach is to help couples improve communication, rebuild trust, and navigate relationship dynamics in a safe and supportive environment. I welcome the opportunity to treat couples working through a crisis or those seeking pre-marital counseling. My approach is Gottman informed, and often begins with me asking about the story of your relationship.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, what you share in therapy is confidential, with a few exceptions mandated by law (e.g., if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of abuse). I am committed to safeguarding your privacy and ensuring that our therapeutic relationship remains secure and protected. While many large businesses have entered the mental health space offering text-based therapy and may have relationships with data brokers or social media platforms, I prioritize your confidentiality and advocate for treatment models that protect the integrity and content of therapy sessions.
What are your fees, and do you offer sliding scale options?
My fees are $80/session for individuals and $120/session for relationships. I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots for clients experiencing financial hardship. I am currently an out-of-network provider, but I can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. It’s best to check with your insurance provider to understand your out-of-network benefits. Feel free to reach out to discuss availability and options that work for you.
I identify with being Neurodivergent. How do you think that will impact my ability to participate in therapy?
I have a unique educational background, holding Master’s degrees in both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Special Education, which allows me to provide a comprehensive and inclusive approach to supporting neurodivergent clients. My approach is client-centered and strengths-based, emphasizing respect for neurodiversity and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and strengths of individuals with ADHD, Autism Spectrum, or both.
For clients with ADHD, I often integrate practical strategies such as:
Executive Functioning Support: Helping clients develop tools and systems to manage time, organize tasks, and sustain attention on long-term goals.
Behavioral Activation and Skills Building: Breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps, creating personalized routines, and using techniques like habit stacking to build consistency.
Mindfulness-Based Approaches: Teaching mindfulness techniques to enhance self-regulation, reduce impulsivity, and increase awareness of triggers.
For clients on the Autism Spectrum, I provide:
Sensory-Informed Therapy: Incorporating an understanding of sensory sensitivities into treatment planning to create a more comfortable and supportive therapeutic environment.
Social Skills Development: Assisting clients in understanding social cues, developing communication strategies, and navigating social situations with greater ease.
Emotion Regulation Strategies: Using tools such as visual aids, scripts, and role-playing to help clients understand and manage their emotions more effectively.
I believe that therapy should be adapted to fit the client, rather than expecting the client to adapt to traditional models of therapy. Together, we can work towards your goals in a way that honors your unique needs and perspectives.
